Hey, BA! Da Tickler is back! I've been in a remote country location the past 4 yrs. taking care of my father who had a stroke. Have just now been able to get internet here. I have just upgraded to 'Google Chrome', and have not yet figured out how to get the playback to work, or get the midi files to download so I can play them back in windows media player. Any suggestions? Thanx & Sincerely, Da Tickler.

I have found one way to hear playback from a previous post of yours by turning off the 'midi' option in quciktime, downloading the file, and then importing it into 'windows media player', but I used to be able to get a playback straight off the website.

Wow, welcome back stranger! And you brought us new music, it is a great day indeed.

Let's get that midi player of yours working. I haven't had a problem with the midi links in Chrome before. Does this link work? It's a basic straight link to a midi file.

I'm to the point now where the midi files get downloaded in my temp folder & then I pull them into media player. This is working fine now, but I thought I used to be able to play them straight off of tabnabber without downloading files (although it's been a while & I could be mistaken). It's good to be back, either way. Being in the country w/o internet for several years has been like being isolated in Antarctica (not to mention having to drive 11 miles just to get to a grocery store).

Sorry to hear about your dad, but it really is great to hear from you, I didn't think you were eva comin back! The legacy of songs remains to this day, as you've still got some of the highest rated songs on the site.

The midis should play right in your browser, that was our intention anyway. This is a testament to the sad state of browser support for midi files. It would be nice if TabNabber had some alternative playback methods, maybe something with HTML5 audio, or possibly flash (youtube-ish). I'd like to have a player that highlights the notes as it plays a song, what do you think about that?

There's a possible solution for your chrome issue here, might be worth a shot. From http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13986048/some-chrome-users-are-not-seeing-the-quicktime-plugin-activated-for-midi-files

I had a similar problem with Chrome and the Quicktime plug-in. The plug-in would not play any embedded .mid files. I'm not sure why this method worked, but .... Uninstall the Quicktime program. Open up Chrome and go to the web page with the embedded .mid(s). Wait for the Install Quicktime plug-in alert. Install as directed then close all windows. Go to Control Panel/Program and Features. Find the Quicktime installation. Select "Repair." Return to the web page with the embedded .mid(s). The .mid file(s) should now play as expected.
